Home - the cookbook
In normal times, I am a chef and yoga teacher. I teach group & private yoga classes to my local community and run pop up supper clubs, private dining events and cookery workshops. In March 2020, Covid changed everything and I made the difficult decision to scale back the business in line with government mandates & lockdowns.
After a few weeks, the novelty of not working and staying at home wore off and my restlessness kicked in. Within a month I was making handcrafted curry pastes to sell to my local community and later in June 2020, I hosted my first live cook-along via zoom, bringing strangers together from all over the country to share my passion for global cuisine. The response and popularity of these events kept them going for a full year and each month I showed up in peoples homes, sharing my stories and recipes and watching the joy on peoples faces as they briefly stepped out of the uncertainty of these testing times.
Many of us are lucky enough to live in countries where vaccines are not only available but free. I am one of those people and whilst I am grateful for my health, secure and freedom. I am in equal measure frustrated and angry at the injustice that this pandemic has perpetuated. Over the past few months, I have found a way to channel these feelings of helplessness and I am delighted to announce that I have written and now self-published a collection of these 12 recipes as a memory of a crazy year, a personal journey for me marked with some of my favourite dishes and virtual rooms of smiling faces and kitchens filled with fragrant smells.
The idea is simple - 12 recipes & 12 months = 1 book & 1 vaccine - so for every book sold, I am donating £5 to fund a vaccine through your organisation to help to reach some of the worlds most vulnerable people in these difficult times. It’s a simple and easy way to be part of the solution and so I am sharing my story - please buy a book, spread the word, share or like and help me spread the word even further.
